What to Concern before Buying Quality Paints?
There are not too many things to consider before picking a paint type. Here are the common and necessary considerations.
Budget
I can hardly see a gallon of durable paint to be less than 60$. The ideal range should be 50 to 100 dollars per gallon of paint. But remember that your budget contains also contains other painting materials if you are a DIY enthusiast. So, have a budget that allows every type of expense to fit in without worries.
Finishing
There are commonly 4 or 5 types of finishing that latest paint features. Among them, my choice is a semi-gloss and satin finish.
Many might suggest you buy something that features flat finishing as it is cheap and common. But such paints are not too sustainable for many reasons. Moreover, these paints don't put any positive impact on your interior.
Satin and semi-gloss finishing are quite light reflective. They are also matte. These types are perfect for any ceilings and walls.
Surface
Depending on the surface, the requirement from the paint varies. Unlike other houses, you can have wooden walls. Or you can have brick walls without any plastering. In such cases, you can't use any ordinary paint that others do.
On the other hand, if you find your surface has issues like cracks, holes, etc. then fix those issues first. Otherwise, the new paint coat can't be precise or catchy.
How to Choose the Best Paint Brands and their Paints?
This is a simple buying guide that refers you to the right type of paint by telling you what to judge. If you go for these features, then you are sure to get something that makes your house's interior look great.
Paint Type
For interior walls and ceilings, there are no better options than acrylic and latex types. They are far more productive and harmless for your lungs. They have almost zero toxicity levels, proper adhesion, and less smell. But sometimes, you can use oil-based paint in some parts of your house like doors. Oil-based options can give you fine finishing and durability most of the time despite having VOC issues.
Coverage
Even a semi-thick coat of paint should feature 450 square feet per gallon coverage. Moreover, quality paints help to get a good paint layer from only a couple of coats.
Stain Resistance
Stain resistance lets your surface look fresh and catchy without getting any permanent marks from smoke, water, or other liquids. It is a mandatory feature that you should look for. The durability of the paint coat mostly depends on this feature often.
Self Priming
Self-priming paints don't need primed surfaces. Because self-primed paints have a high range of adhesion and adaptability. So, your money gets saved. And also, you have to work less and finish painting quite easily.
Less VOC
The existence of VOCs is an alarming fact for your health. The best option for you is to get something with a zero VOC rate. It is because VOCs give you permanent lung infection, breathing difficulties, and kidney failures.
How to Remove Old Paint Coats from Walls and Ceilings?
Removing the old, damaged, or unnecessary paint coats from a surface is a part of re-painting most of the time. Sometimes, your wall might require the removal of the current paint or primer coat to get a new coat of paint. Removing paints is done to make a surface eligible and smooth.
In this part of the discussion, you get to know when and how you can eliminate the current paint layer from your interior walls and ceilings. I have tried to show you only those techniques here that require not too much stuff and take less time to make your paint job easy.
When Old Paint Layer Removal is Necessary?
There is a lot of debate going on this matter. I have gone through each of them. After judging some opinions from my own experience, I decide to make paint removal, not a mandatory part of the DIY painting.
In case you have bought a paint type that matches the current layer on your wall, you don't need to put hands on the whole paint coat. You can simply do a bit of sanding to make your wall plain and even to add a new coat.
Besides, you can cover up normal stains and marks without even eliminating the current layer.
Removing the existence of old layers becomes necessary when you have got a different type of paint to use now. You also should remove a big portion of the paint coat when you need to fix any leakage or crack before re-painting your wall.
Apart, putting off old paints is a must when the wall's color doesn't match with the new paint.
Despite all these facts, you can still put off the old paint from your interior of the house without any strong reason if you wish to. All it can cost you is a bit of extra energy and time.
Common Ways to Get Rid of Unnecessary Paint Coats
There is a possibility that different DIY enthusiasts can tell you different types of methods to put off a layer of paint or primer from a random surface. Each of them truly brings a good result. Among them, sanding and scrapping is the oldest way to remove paints.
These methods also have got some modifications in recent times. To make sure you don't have to look for another site or guide to know the right way of removing old paints from a wall or ceiling, here are my three favorite ways of eliminating paints off walls and other surfaces.
Using Paint stripper Liquid
According to me, it is the easiest way you can clear your wall for recoating anytime. The process also fits in a small budget. So, you don't have to worry about money at all. You should gather all these stuff to start this process-
According to me, it is the easiest way you can clear your wall for recoating anytime. The process also fits in a small budget. So, you don't have to worry about money at all. You should gather all these stuff to start this process-
The Process
No matter which method you follow, you must cover your floor, doors, windows, and other things near the surface. You can use plastic sheets or waste cloths for covering.
Now, read the instruction given on the can of the stripper carefully for knowing the actual nature of this stripper.
After that, wear your gloves and start putting stripper using a large but soft brush. Give consistent brush strokes on your wall to ensure the full coverage.
After covering the paint layer with the stripper, wait for a while. When the situation of the paint changes a bit, you start scrapping the layer with e sharp scrapper.
After scrapping, if you still find some part of the paint coat hardly sticking on the wall, use the stripper again and scrap after waiting a while.
When you finally removed the whole paint layer, wash away the stripper from the wall following the directions given on the stripper can. If you don't wash the stripper, it may stop even your newly bought best household paint from grabbing the surface well.
Sanding with a Sander
I have told you before that sanding is the classical way of removing old paints from any surface you want. But nowadays, professionals usually avoid using sandpaper with hands. Instead, they use a machine called sander that automatically sands away the paint with a high grit abalone range.
For sanding using advanced technology like the sander, you need to collect-
The Process
First of all, here is a catch. Even a normal sander is quite expensive. The price of a quality sander may effect on the budget of buying the best house paint brand product and other painting procedures. If you are not a frequent DIY painter, then avoid buying a sander. Instead, you can take a sander in rent from a nearby hardware local store.
Like the first method, you need to cover up your surroundings and remove your furniture from your wall.
Then, you need to wear safety kits like goggles and gloves. Here, we are giving a bit more importance to the goggles as sanding can create small particles of your old paint. Such particle can trouble your even. They can even cause permanent damage to your eyes.
After that, you have to use the sander. Remember, your sander should feature a range of 120 to 150 grit abalone. Otherwise, the sanding can be imprecise and lengthy. You can take advice from a professional or see a practical application of sanders if you feel a bit worried about using the machine.
You need to push the sander a bit on the wall. When you see there is no paint left on the wall, turn off the sander and rub the whole wall using a waste cloth to make it clean for future painting.
After using the sander, if you still find a slight layer of paint on any part of the wall, you can use a sandpaper to remove that.
Using a Heat Gun
It is the latest but costly and critical process of removing old paint coats. When you follow this technique, you also need to focus on buying a good heat gun first. You also need to know the right way of using this type of tool. So, I suggest using this method when you do a bulk painting job. What you need to follow this method are-
The Process
The process is pretty simple when you know how to control a heat gun in any situation. That is why the first task is to know to control well.
To start removing paints, point the tip of the gun towards the wall. You should hold the gun parallel to the ground. The distance between the tip and the wall should be at least a couple of inches.
Now press the trigger to heat the pointed area's paint layer. Keep holding the trigger until the area's layer starts to detach from the wall.
You need to be fast in this method. As soon as you see the paint is getting removed a bit because of heat, take the scrubber to fully remove the paint layer.
Repeat the steps above on every part of your wall to make your wall ready for a new coat of paint.

How to Do the Painting Properly on Your Home Interior?
From the reviews above, you must have known what is the best quality paint brand and product of the market. Along with removing old paint techniques, I intend to show you an easy way of painting so that you can use new paint without any problem. I am telling the way I usually follow for most paint jobs in short below.
Things You Need
The larger your job is, the more tools you require. I am giving a list of things that you must collect if you are doing the painting of a whole room.
You can add or remove any tool from this list if you need so. This is a basic list that gives you an idea about how much money you have to spend or preparation you need to take.
Wear the Safety Gear First
A quite appreciable budget is necessary for buying stuff that keeps you safe from accidents in paint jobs. Among them, gloves are the first thing you have to concern. A thick pair of gloves always keeps your hands away from direct contact with paints. You need to buy a quality and safe mask that ensures healthy breathing in a room where you are painting. Apron always keeps your cloth clean. And goggles prevent paint from accidentally going inside your eyes.
Remove the Current Paint if You Need
You can find your current paint and primer layer to be gone for the new look of the interior. If so, follow the section above where I have shown you how and why you can rip off the paint layer of walls and ceilings. You are also allowed to follow any different technique than my guide.
See if there is any Problem
Before priming or painting, you need to observe the whole surface. If you find any problem like cracks or leaks in the wall, you better fix that issue first. Otherwise, the problem stays even after repainting, and your wall gets ruined again. But some problems can be solved by using stain and moisture resistant paints too. So, know if there are any damages or not.
You can Do a bit of Cleaning of the Surface
It is not necessary at all. But you can do it if you see your walls are ceilings have any old paint particles or dust left even after sanding or peeling off the old paint. Just simply make soapy water. Then, rinse a cloth in that water and rub your wall gently using that we cloth. You have to do it once so that the wall doesn't get too dry.
Prime the Surface
Priming is necessary when you have removed the primer coat while removing old paints. But you can eliminate the need for primer if you buy some paints with advanced technology. However, let's see how you do priming when you need to.
Put borders using the paint tape if you don't want to prime or paint unwanted places. Keep them until you have not done the whole painting process.
Fill the gun container with the primer you have bought if you are using a paint sprayer. Or else, dip your brush or roller well in the primer. Put a moderately thick coat of the primer on the whole wall.
Take your time while priming your wall to make an even layer. After the priming, leave your wall for 3 to 6 hours to get dry, depending on the weather or ventilation.
A Bit of Sanding is required
To get a smooth and solid surface, you can give some light strokes of sandpaper on the primed wall. Lightly rub the whole surface for a few minutes. Then, touch the wall with your bare hands and move to know if the wall has become smooth enough or not. Clean your wall with a dry cloth to remove particles created from sanding before painting.
Prepare Your Paint
To get what you wish, you must focus on the thickness of the paint. The maintained thickness helps you a lot in painting and assures the durability of the paint.
Put your paint on a bucket or container and add a little bit of thinner to make too thick paints ready to use. You can test the thickness after using thinner o a paper or board.
It’s Time for Painting
To start painting, first of all, give brush strokes parallel to the borders you have made. It decreases the possibility of paint waste or splitting.
You can now use roller or sprayer to start putting paint coats on the wall. If you are using a brush or roller, then do give zigzag strokes to make the job easy and effective. And keep spraying and moving the gun according to the adjustment you have done in the controlling in case you are using a paint sprayer.
Give another Coat to Finish the Job
You should wait for the first paint coat to get dry for your final step. The waiting period is around 3 to 4 hours. Between that period, you can apply a paint extender in the unused paint not to let it get dry. It also helps to prevent brush or roller marks most of the time.
To apply the second coat, you should follow the instruction in the previous step of using rollers and sprayers.
Do a Necessary Inspection
When the last coat also gets dry, look at the wall carefully. It is to find any spot has not got painted. Use a brush to cover such places. If you think you have to give another coating also, then you can do so. But make sure you are leaving your room ventilated after putting paint coats so that it gets dry well and the gas inside the room goes out.
Clean All the Mess
Cleaning the mess caused by painting ends your job as a painter. You should start cleaning by removing painting tapes from your wall. Along, remove all waste cloths and papers to cover up surroundings and floors.
Lastly, check if you have split any paint around. If so, clean those using soapy water, sandpaper, or liquid paint remover. And place everything on their previous spot.
Some Special Tips
Sprayers Vs Rollers and Brushes
It is an argument that is still running among several experts for many days. Using good rollers or brushes gives painters a good experience. But the latest sprayers help to save lots of time even if a painter is painting a large surface. Both types of tools have some noticeable advantages and disadvantages which you can't ignore.
I am not giving priority to any type of tool here. You can use anything you feel comfortable with. Here, I am only showing both sides of sprayers and brushes. You can decide which one to use after judging my opinion.
Preparation
When you intend to use a roller or brush, you don't need any big preparation. With a little bit of carefulness, you can easily cover up your wall or ceiling with brush strokes.
On the other hand, you can't deny that sprayers need lots of preparation and maintenance. If you don't cover up or remove your furniture and other stuff from the room, they might get unwanted paint particles too.
Required Safety Kits
It is good to wear the most type of safety gear such as gloves, apron, face mask, ear cover, and goggles. But you can do paint jobs only wearing gloves and apron if you use a brush or roller. A brush doesn't split too much paint. Painting using roller or brushes doesn't create instant fume or gas that can make you feel suffocated or irritated. So, most of the time, brush or roller strokes are quite safe.
As we all know, you need to wear all the safety gear to keep you safe from spraying errors. Sprayers create small paint particles that can spread outside of the targeted surface. Such particles can hurt your eyes and ears. You can also get permanent damage from spraying inappropriately. Also, interior spraying for quite a time can create gas that can trouble you in breathing. So, without ensuring your safety, spraying is not too safe at all.
Coverage
According to my experience, I have found a gallon of paint to cover at least 320 to 340 square feet when you use brush and rollers. The coverage range varies paint type, thickness you want, number of coats you give, etc.
The best of the airless paint sprayers can paint 200 to 250 square feet with a gallon of paint. The range varies in different situations and is a bit more than 65 percent of the range of brush painting on average. But I have told you the ratio that a high-performance sprayer can keep up. When you go downwards in quality and buy a budget sprayer, you can have 50 percent less coverage than brush and roller.
Surface
Mostly flat, even, and solid surfaces are perfect to use your paintbrush or roller. You also need to have brushes and rollers with different sizes to reach and cover most types of surfaces with ease.
You can paint every type of surface with only using one good sprayer gun. You can easily do your job anywhere when you have a sprayer to put paint coats. All you have to do is get the right type of paint and know the actual way of controlling a sprayer.
Time and Energy
There is no doubt that sprayer is the best choice to save both time and energy. The latest HVLP sprayers can finish painting 70 percent faster than a roller or brush. Most paint job agencies now do their job using sprayers to complete as soon as possible.
Coating
To achieve a smooth and even finishing from a paint coat applied by brushes or rollers, you have to work hard. Moreover, expecting a plain coat without any marks is quite impossible. You can find brush marks on the walls sometimes even if you try your best. But you can control the thickness of the coat if you are clever enough.
Sprayers are always famous for featuring fine, smooth, and solid coatings. You can also get the desired type of finishing without hustling a lot. You only have to adjust the functioning of the spray gun to have your preferred type of finishing. But you might overspray if you don't stay cautious.
Experience
It is surprisingly true that your experience is related to the performance of painting tools.
You can hold a brush and start giving strokes even if you have never done it before. You can learn instantly by putting brush strokes on your wall, which is not quite impossible. But still, the best result comes when you have the right knowledge and proper experience.
For me, spray guns are not for beginners. It is a type of tool that only professionals or regular painters can use. Because you need to be careful from putting paints on the sprayer container to adjust the functioning. It is okay if you have got the right guide to use a sprayer flawlessly. But you should better avoid using sprayers even if the sprayer gives a better result than rollers when you don't know how to adjust a sprayer in a specific situation.
Conclusion:
These are all the necessary suggestions and information regarding the best paint brands, products, and DIY painting. I have enlisted only those products which are easy to apply, not too costly, and fulfills your demands. Along, the detailed guide is there to help you paint at home by yourself. All these are quite enough helpful for even a beginner to do the painting. So, I hope you do the best in your next interior painting flawlessly.
